2008Trustee Election Info
Dear MS ASLA Members,

It is now time for you to elect your incoming trustee, as my trustee term will end at the close of the ASLA Annual meeting this October 3-7, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA. I am pleased to announce the nominees for this office. They are Alan Hoops, George Lamar Ewing, III and John Milstead. Please review the attached bio and position statement for each candidate. Ballots and ballot instructions will be mailed out on July 28th, 2008. You can also review these documents on the www.MSASLA.org website.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you over the past several years as both your chapter trustee and as president prior. I hope the visioning and strategic planning that I have attempted to provide for our chapter will continue to prosper and develop as it strengthens the membership value for you. Your executive committee officers have shown tremendous enthusiasm and dedication to creating a stronger chapter during my tenure, and it’s been an honor to work with each of them.

Many thanks to each of you that have advised me and provided the kind of quality input that has given shape to our chapter. Your willingness to recommend, inform, counsel, advise and participate in chapter functions has strengthened our future, not only as a chapter but also at a national level.

ASLA national has made tremendous improvements as a society over the past several years, also. Our efforts to shape national policies and practices on growth and development are ever-increasing and recognized. The board of trustees has provided the necessary leadership to strategic initiatives and programs such as, HALS (Historic American Landscape Survey), ASLA Chapter Disaster Preparedness Handbook, GreenRoof Design, Green Infrastructure, Low Impact Design, SITES Initiative and Ecological System Services, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), ASLA Contracts, LA CES (Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System), as well as Climate Change to name a few.

Your ASLA Chapter, National Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, and Staff are doing a tremendous job for the Landscape Architecture profession. Again, thank you and I am honored that you chose me to represent our chapter as trustee for the past three years.

Sincerely,

Robert Michael Gammill, ASLA
Mississippi Chapter Trustee
