Design Week 2008
will be held at MSU January 14th-18th. All professionals are
welcome and potential CEU's are available. This design week is
organized to provide students with an understanding of implications of
scale changes following the mantra of “Think globally, act locally.”
More specifically, implications of site design and planning decisions at
the Landscape Architecture facility and understanding of their
ecological impacts at scales ranging from site, campus, regional, and
watershed will be the focus of this design week.

APA/ASLA Small Towns - Big Plans Conference -
The Mississippi Chapters of ASLA and the American Planning Association
(APA) will be holding a joint conference in Meridian October
25th-26th in Meridian, Mississippi at the MSU Riley Center.

- The 52nd
Edward C. Martin Landscape Design Symposium. The longest running
landscape design symposium in the nation is hosted by the Department of
Landscape Architecture, Mississippi State University and The Garden
Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. The 52nd Edward C. Martin Landscape Design
Symposium is scheduled to take place at Bost Auditorium on the
Mississippi State University campus on Wednesday, October 17, 2007
from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Noted regional landscape architects and
nurserymen will present topics on residential landscape design and

Smart Growth Conference for Southern Mississippi to Be Held May
9-10
- LA Month
Social May 11th - A National LA Month Celebration will be held on
Friday May 11th from 5pm-8pm on the Plaza at Mirror Lake Plaza in
Flowood. (Click here

at MSU, professor Sadik C. Artunc.
There will be free food and entertainment for all ASLA members! The
entry fee for non-members will be $10.00 at the door. CEU
Sessions will also be offered for a fee in the Ergon Conference facility
in the Mirror Lake Office Building. (More information to follow)
- Mississippi ASLA Members Meet with
Representatives of Senators Lott and Cochran.
On March 5th, 2007 a delegation of
students and professionals met with representatives of Senator Trent
Lott and Senator Thad Cochran to discuss important Landscape
Architecture initiatives. Items discussed included the HALS
(Historic American Landscape Survey) and ASLA's own Small Community
Visioning Pilot Program. Both of these initiatives were well
received. Please consider contacting your Senator and
Representative to ask for their support of these initiatives. You
can easily do so by visiting the
